He might play a selfish and deeply flawed man on TV, but yesterday Jon Hamm proved that, off-camera, he is the kindest man alive when he showed up at Stony Point Animal Shelter in Los Angeles and did push-ups in front of rescue dogs for three hours!
Nate Epstein, the shelter employee working the front desk when Hamm walked in, said he was blown away by the Mad Men star’s incredible act of charity.
“I look up and I see Jon Hamm walking through the door. I couldn’t believe it! He walked into the shelter without saying a word, went straight over to the dog kennels, and immediately dropped down and began doing a long string of push-ups in complete silence for the next three hours. It was one of the nicest things I’ve ever seen anyone do!”
Awesome! These pups were blown away by 180 straight minutes of Jon Hamm doing push ups!
Those present to witness the star’s selfless act of charity said that after three straight hours of doing push-ups for the shelter dogs, Jon Hamm went out of his way to stand in front of the dogs and shout out an arbitrary list of Mad Men characters.
Shelter director Margaret Albrecht recalled how moved she was by Hamm’s act of philanthropy.
“As if the endless sequence of push-ups wasn’t generous enough, after Jon was finished, he stood up and started shouting the names of different characters from Mad Men. He looked right at the dogs and shouted, ‘Pete Campbell! Trudy! Peggy! The guy who died! Joan! Don Draper! Roger Sterling! Trudy! Sally Draper!’ And then he just turned around and left. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen, and of course, the shelter dogs loved it.”
Talk about going above and beyond! It’s inspiring to see celebrities give back to their communities like this. If only more famous people would follow Hamm’s lead.
Just when you thought we, as a society, couldn’t get lazier – the people who make video games have even started worrying for us, and inventing ways to get us out of the house.
Pokemon GO is a game where you have to wander around to try and catch them all. It was released earlier this week in America, but hasn’t been officially released yet in the UK. You can, however, log into the American app store and get it that way.
Since it’s release, the game has caused lots of weird happenings. Mostly just, you know, people leaving the house.
The weirdest however has to be 19-year-old Shayla Wiggins, who found adead body floating in the Wind River, Wyoming. Shayla toldCounty 10 that she woke up earlyyesterdaymorning just to play Pokemon GO.
“I was trying to get a Pokmon from a natural water resource,” she explained. She said that she jumped over the fence to go towards the river in search of a Pokmon.
“I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water. I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body.”
She said the figure was floating about three feet from the shore, and it seemedlike the body of an average sized male.
“It was pretty shocking,” Shayla said. “I didn’t really know what to do at first. But I called 911 right away and they came really quickly.” Shortly after authorities arrived they took Shayla down to the scene where she had indicated she found the body. Detectives told Shayla that they thought the body had been there for less than 24 hours.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office has released the following information: The death appears to be accidental in nature and possibly that of a drowning. There is no evidence at this time that would indicate foul play. Evidence located at the scene has led investigators to believe the man went into the water at the location he was found.
So, guys. There’s more to look out for in the world than just Pokemon. Make sure you look where you’re walking…
We’ve all messed up after a few drinks, but for most of us that normally involves drunk-dialingour ex or going into the wrong toilet at the bar.
Jennifer Lampe, 28, has been given a suspended 4 month jail sentence for killing her two snakes while drunk, and causing them unnecessary suffering.
She was discovered by police covered in blood, with the lifeless body of her boa constrictor wrapped around her neck, and the heads of both reptiles stashed in her pockets covered in vomit, after she had attempted to swallow them but thrown them up.
She told the RSPCA she ‘wanted to keep them’, and magistrates accused her of committing an ‘unpleasant, not to say bizarre’ act of animal cruelty.
The court was also told about how, a few weeks before the snake decapitations, she threw her pet hamster into a fish tank and watched it drown because it wasmaking too much noise in the night.
RSPCA prosecutor Roger Price told court she then ‘put the dead hamster in a chest freezer’ but its contents were later emptied.
Mr Price said Lampe killed the two-metre boa constrictor and a smaller ball python in April of this year because she was worried she mightbecome homeless and therefore wouldn’t be able to look after the pair.
She was living with her sister, but after falling out with her sister’s boyfriend she became agitated and took a pair of scissors and knife up to her room where she was keeping the snakes. Her sister found her hysterical with the snake draped around her neck and called the police.
A vet who examined the animals found that the snakes’ ‘suffering was prolonged and painful’ and saidthat reptiles’ heads ‘can remain operable up to an hour after decapitation’, meaning they likely were fullyaware of Lampe as she swallowed them.
Sarah Cooper, representing Lampe, described heras a vulnerable ‘loner’ who had ‘some mental health problems’, a drink problem and was currently taking anti-depressants.
‘It is a bizarre set of circumstances, needless to say, the animals have suffered, they shouldn’t have, she knows that.’

Rosalia Lombardo is known simply as “Sleeping Beauty.” When she passed away in 1920, her body was embalmed by Alfredo Salafia. His method of embalming left her body in tact, making her one of the world’s best preserved mummies.
Not much is known about her life (aside from the fact that she died of pneumonia), but it is after her death that she has drawn huge attention. Many people believe that Rosalia opens and closes her eyes while resting in her glass casket.
Surely this isn’t possible if she’s been dead for 95 years? Before any supernatural theories emerge, it definitely isn’t possible. According to Dario Piombino-Mascali, curator of the Capuchin Catacombs in Sicily, it’s simply a phenomenon.
It’s “an optical illusion produced by the light that filters through the side windows, which during the day is subject to change,” he said in a statement.
What you think you’re seeing is just an optical illusion. Apparently, her eyes are “not completely closed, and indeed they have never been,” Piombino-Mascali added.
While Ste Walker may look perfectly healthy, the 24-year-old from Halifax is actually battling a debilitating disability.
Suffering from Crohn’s disease – which affects the digestive tract – Ste has undergone three life-saving operations in the past two years. He has to live with a central line that goes to his heart and feeds him, as well as anileostomy bag – or stoma – to collect his poo outside his body.
Living with this conditionis difficult enough, and Ste also hasto deal with abusive comments from people who don’t understand that you can’t always ‘see’ disability.
In a recent Facebook post, he explained how he often is called out for using a disabled toilet, or parking in a disabled spot, all because he doesn’t ‘look disabled’.
After explainingthe physical reality of living with Crohn’s Disease – including the ileostomy bag and the tubes to drain his stomach – Ste said:
“It’s not just these physical conditions I have to deal with and fight everyday, there is also a mental battle raging inside me all the time, not been able to eat a meal in 2 years, or only been at home for 4 weeks in the last 18 months, been away from my family and friends, seeing what my illness does to them has a massive effect on my mental state of mind.”
He then said:
“So the next time someone says to me “well you look perfectly fine, why are you using that disabled toilet, or parking in that disabled spot, your conning the system, your not disabled, you don’t need that walking stick” just stop and think maybe I just want TO BE FINE or to feel normal, you don’t no what I go threw on a daily basis and you have no right to judge me just on your perception of me that you can see because you don’t no what goes on inside…..so stop and think before you speak, think about the struggle I’ve gone threw just to get out of bed and get dressed and tried to look ‘normal’…..”
We hope that this brave and powerful post teaches people something about the nature of disability.
You know how it is. You see someone you fancy, you try toflirt with them a bit, flatter them slightly, and hope that they reciprocate.
Geordie Shore’s Scotty T is no newbie to flirting, quite the opposite in fact, he’s got a bit of a reputation for having a way with the ladies.
Yesterday he decided to aim high by approaching Kendall Jenner on Twitter. He uploaded a photo of her and then sent her a tweet letting her know how ‘ridiculously fit’ she is. It’s a pretty direct approach, but, you know, it was a worth a shot and besides, what’s the worst that can happen?
You could get the wrong girl, that’s what. Yes, Scotty T sent Kendall Jenner a photo of Gone Girl starEmily Ratajkowski telling her how fit she was. Oops.
Oh well, never mind Scotty, at least you didn’t do it on social media so that the whole internet could point out your mistake.
I’m sure Kendall Jenner is feeling very flattered right now.
