Toronto Police Have The Rob Ford Crack Video

Toronto Police Have The Rob Ford Crack Video
Toronto Police Video Services

After Gawker and the Toronto Star revealed the existence of a video earlier this year of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford allegedly smoking crack cocaine with drug dealers, Ford fired back, stating that there absolutely was no video.

Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said today that there is, in fact, a video.

In a news conference Thursday, Blair said his department has obtained a video featuring Mayor Ford that is “consistent with what has previously been reported in the media.”

Blair would not divulge what he saw when he watched the clip, but he did say he is “disappointed” in its content.

The video was seized by Toronto PD on Oct. 29 during a forensic investigation of a hard drive related to the case, Blair said.

A 476-page warrant was released to the media Thursday detailing the charges against Ford friend and driver Sandro Lisi, who police are charging with extortion.

Blair says the video will be presented in court.

3. The documents released today contain surveillance photos of Ford and Lisi together.

4. Toronto police launched the investigation into Ford following the allegations that video of Ford smoking crack exists.

5. Ford has repeatedly denied that such a video exists. On Thursday, he was filmed in a heated confrontation with reporters in his driveway.

Watch the full clip of Ford clashing with reporters on Toronto Star’s website.

6. UPDATE: The embattled Mayor Ford said “he has no reason to resign” in a brief statement outside his office at Toronto City Hall on Thursday.

Hear Beyoncé Collaborator Boots’ Debut Mixtape, “WinterSpringSummerFall”

Hear Beyoncé Collaborator Boots’ Debut Mixtape, “WinterSpringSummerFall”

And, “for the first and last time,” hear his story, in his words.

Boots is the producer/singer/songwriter/rapper with a magical ear who blessed “80%” of last year’s earth-shaking Beyoncé album. (When the internet discovered him, it kind of freaked out.) Today, he’s sharing his debut solo mixtape, WinterSpringSummerFall. Recorded around the world over the course of the year, its 16 songs are laser sharp but delightfully all over the place, like a stream-of-consciousness that’s at turns sexy, lonely, and uplifting. Songs bounce from one time signature to another, and braid together fragments of sounds picked up and preserved — a bit of a voicemail, a little yawn, a train. Fittingly, the tape weaves together the efforts of a bunch of collaborators: composer Son Lux, singer Kelela, super duo Shlohmo & Jeremih, and king Beyoncé herself.

2. We figured Boots himself would introduce the tape best. His story, and the stream, are below:

Where Do Skittles Come From?

Where Do Skittles Come From?

1. MERMAIDS.

For a Middle Eastern branding project, Japanese design firm IC4DESIGN created these pretty amazing illustrations to show where Skittles come from. Make sure and scroll down to check out the detailed panels.

But…being the cranky cynic that I am, I have to point out that the mermaid scene feels like forced prostitution.

WELL, IT DOES.

‘Kill me now’! Meet the WaPo writer who’s proudly raising her cats ‘gender-neutral’

'Kill me now'! Meet the WaPo writer who's proudly raising her cats 'gender-neutral'

Welcome to 2016:

This is a very serious discussion. One might even say it’s thuper-therial.

Wait, wait! Just hear her out! The Post’sLauren R. Taylorwrites:

The cats lives wouldnt change, I reasoned, and it would help me learn to use plural pronouns for my friends, neighbors and colleagues who individually go by they, their and them. Even though using they, them and their as singular pronouns grates on many people because its grammatically incorrect, it seems to be the most popular solution to the question of how to identify people without requiring them to conform to the gender binary of female and male. It also just feels right to refer to people as they wish to be referred to.

Around the house, with just me, Essence and Trouble named for Rare Essence and Trouble Funk, for the DC music lovers reading this things were pretty easy. Id make a mistake (called misgendering), saying something like Wheres your brother? (Yes, I talk to my cats.) Usually, Id remember to fix it (Wheres your sibling? or Wheres your pal?). Just as Id hoped, I began finding it easier to remember to use gender-neutral language for the humans in my life.

And I began to get an infinitesimal taste of what transgender and gender-nonconforming people face. Im not talking about the outright bigotry and hatred something I cant know without being in their shoes but the complete cluelessness. Friends would come over, Id introduce the cats and their pronouns, and some would ask, But what ARE they? Some would randomly use he and she. Some would stumble, unable to form a sentence when talking about one of the cats.

Believe it or not, there’s more. But we’ll let you discover the remaining magic for yourself.

Who needs children when you’ve got gender-neutral fur babies?

Cats can’t tell you to shut up.

They can, of course, think it.

As for Taylor’s request that readers not laugh … well, let’s see how that’s working out for her:
